Prof. Dong-Kyu Lee graduated from Korea University College of Medicine and obtained his PhD in anesthesiology at Korea University, South Korea. He completed his residency training at Korea University Medical Center Guro Hospital and subsequently pursued fellowship training at the same institution. He currently works as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital. He has a strong academic interest in biostatistics and currently serves as a statistical editor, reviewer, and member of the statistical round for the Korean Journal of Anesthesiology and Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. His major research interests include hemodynamics, respiratory care, intraoperative bronchoscopy, airway management, geriatric anesthesia, and clinical epidemiology. In particular, his recent research has focused on perioperative risk stratification and outcomes in older surgical patients, including frailty-based assessment, hemodynamic management in high-risk elderly populations, and ICU outcomes in very old patients. His work aims to bridge physiologic monitoring with clinically meaningful decision-making in geriatric anesthesia. He has also been actively involved in international collaboration. He served as an honorary visiting professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Austin Health, Melbourne, Australia, where he conducted research on intraoperative hemodynamics using novel data visualization approaches. Prof. Lee has published and presented extensively on intraoperative bronchoscopy, an advanced technique that provides critical information during thoracic surgery. He is also recognized for his work in pediatric bronchoscopy, including bronchial examination and foreign body removal. He has contributed to several academic societies, including the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists, the Korean Difficult Airway Society, and the Korean Society of Anesthetic Pharmacology, serving as both a member and a director. He currently serves in academic affairs for the Korean Society of Geriatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He has also shared his expertise in bronchoscopy and airway management through hands-on workshops at the KoreAnesthesia meeting. He has delivered numerous expert lectures on hemodynamic assessment and management both domestically and internationally. In addition, he has authored several editorials on biostatistics that have been widely cited throughout the medical literature.
